The style data – Yes, You Can mix stripes as well as Prints.

Ciao Bloggisti,

I understand matching curtains, wallpaper, as well as even bed covers are having a moment.  I believe this style can look charming in a Manhattan traditional six bedroom or a house in the English countryside.  In general though, I’m not a fan of what interior designers/decorators refer to, in extremely technical terms, as matchy-matchy.

So far we’ve utilized a great deal of neutrals as well as solid colors in our projects. I’m trying to experiment a lot more when it pertains to patterns, particularly mixing them.  It’s difficult as there’s a fine line between Granny stylish as well as a space that looks dated.

One of my clients has a gorgeous striped sofa.  The present decorative pillows are a solid blue that she would like to change.  unusual myself, I started to pull prints.  Her house has traditional lines as well as a few antiques mixed with contemporary art.  The solid pillows on the couch totally disappeared.

Something such as this from Designer’s Guild would make the pillows stick out a lot more without overwhelming the sofas:

I like stripes.  They’re a fantastic pattern to mix with as they are basic as well as graphic.  It may seem strange to location a stripe in a space that has floral prints, however try it.  The graphic lines of the stripes will assist ground the space.

How to make sure the space doesn’t look like a jumbled mess?  Color, color, color.   This bedroom by mark D. Sikes is a best example.

The stripes on the chairs go beautifully with the floral print on the duvet.  picture a floral pattern on the chairs.  I believe it would be method as well much.

There’s a great deal going on in this area however the color combination (and the scale of the furniture) makes it relaxing.

Below, a strong technique from Steven Gambrel.  Gorgeous.

Chocolate brown as well as blue from Sheila Bridges.  notice exactly how the print in the curtains is the exact same color as the stripe.  Beautiful.  solid curtains  with this type of sofa would’ve made the area as well formal for a young single woman.
